June 2017 — ‘Coloratura’, ’16 Ways to Kill a Vampire at McDonalds’, ‘The Uncle Who Works For Nintendo’

Welcome to the fourth month of Text Club! (FAQ)

Imzy is closing down, so we have a new home here on WordPress. Otherwise, we’ll follow the same format.

Our three games this month are:

Coloratura

“Stolen away by apathetic Blind Ones, your only desire is to return to your Cellarium and the Song of the Universe. They should understand. You shall make them to understand.”

by Lynnea Glasser, 2013, ifdb

Play ‘Coloratura’ in your browser at iplayif

the uncle who works for nintendo

“You are 11 years old. You are sleeping over at your best friend’s house.

You and your friend like videogames. Your friend has a lot of cool games.

And, believe it or not, an uncle who works for Nintendo.

And he’s coming to visit at midnight.

A narrative horror game. Five endings.”

16 Ways to Kill a Vampire at McDonalds

“You’re a vampire hunter on your night off.

You’re getting a manicure, seeing a movie, and eating fast food.

But there’s a vampire in this McDonalds.

If you don’t do something, then in one hour it will eat the cashier.”

by Abigail Corfman, 2016, ifdb

In order to give everyone time to fit the games into our various schedules, we’ll hold off on substantive discussion until the last full week of the month — the week starting June 26th. Meanwhile do feel free to use the space below to ask+answer any more technical questions about how to get going or how to get unstuck, and share any resources you think might be useful while playing.

I think this is going to be our best month yet!
